The No. 01 Verve ParTea Chevy made its NASCAR debut at the ServiceMaster 200 Nationwide Series Race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) driven by veteran race driver Mike Wallace.
Vemma is very excited to once again team up with Mike Wallace and the No. 01 car after watching the Verve Bold Chevy tear up the track during the April race at PIR. Mike is a native of St. Louis, MO and part of the famous Wallace racing family including brothers Rusty and Kenny, a daughter and a son who are also professional drivers. Mike is a perennial fan favorite having started in over 600 career NASCAR races with over 300 short track wins and multiple wins at Daytona, Martinsville, Phoenix, Dover and Milwaukee.
“As a recent college grad, I experienced firsthand just how tough the job market is. Vemma came into my life and completely changed what I thought a job could be. Now I spend my time helping others and am able to impact others on a daily basis.” — Chad McMullen

Have you ever dreamed of a high-impact career full of energy, risk taking and self-expression? This is the life of Shane Fry, a well-known hip-hop and b-boy champion in Buffalo and co-owner of Verve Dance Studio. Together with his wife, Vemma Brand Partner Heather Russell, Shane holds regular dance competitions in Buffalo, New York, at their studio. In an interview with the Buffalo News, Shane recently said that Bod•ē Burn is the secret to his high-energy lifestyle. He also shared tips on eating healthy and keeping your body in peak condition.
With a company called “Verve Dance Studio,” you’d think that Shane and Heather are longtime Vemma fans. But the funny thing is that they named their studio before they’d ever heard about Vemma, back in 2005, and only recently became involved with Vemma. Heather is on Ruth Elliott’s team and was the one who got Shane hooked on the products. “People come in, they see a can of Verve and say, ‘Man, you’ve got your own energy drink!’ And I say, sort of… ” Shane laughs. “Actually my favorite product is definitely Bod•ē Burn, but I do have a Verve on occasion. Bod•ē Burn is really appealing to me — it gives you 20g of protein and only 5g of sugar. I have one every day. We also take the Vemma formula daily.”
Shane is frequently called “the leader of b-boy dance in Buffalo,” and Verve Dance Studio is known as “the hive of b-boy culture.” It’s the site of monthly dance battles and feels as much like a community center as it does a dance studio. “When I was a kid, I wanted to own a community center, and that’s pretty much what I grew up to do,” says Shane, who was a high school basketball star and says he didn’t really take dance seriously until after he graduated. “One day I saw some kids breaking in downtown Buffalo, and that started it out. I’ve been b-boying ever since.” Shane recently released this popular video that combines art with b-boying:
So what’s a b-boy battle like? Talk about energy! Dancers take turns trying to out-dance each other, performing incredible, gravity-defying moves at a fast pace to hip-hop or breakbeats. “These battles are a way for young people to learn and showcase their talent in a supportive environment,” Shane says. “Getting involved in b-boying (which some people call breakdancing, but the official term is b-boying or breaking, with dancers called b-boys or b-girls) is a great way to keep kids out of trouble. These competitions give emerging dancers a way to positively express themselves — plus they get in good shape. You get a rockin’ good workout! This kind of dance transfers over cultural barriers and unites the community. At our dance competitions, Battle @ Buffalo, people drop walls and interact with people they don’t usually hang out with. It’s good for the community.”
The Verve Dance Studio in Buffalo, New York, teaches preschool kids all the way up to college kids, adults and seniors. “I’ve got one b-boy at my studio who’s in his 70s,” he says. “Pretty amazing. There’s a whole underground culture of intelligent, positive people in b-boying.” You can take a virtual visit to a b-boy battle (and catch Shane drinking a few cans of Verve) by watching this Verve Dance Studio video blog.

Diego Avila on Resilience and Determination – Verve Leadership Academy Power Talk
Diego Avila remembers his family struggling through recent hard winters in Ohio. With both of his parents unemployed, Diego’s father shoveled snow off of driveways to earn a living. “He came home one day and his boots looked completely frozen,” Diego says. “His feet were so cold he could barely walk. I had to carry him to the tub to warm him up.” Diego credits Vemma for giving him the opportunity to help his family financially.* “One day, my father was lying sick in bed because he was overcome from chemicals at a cleaning job he had picked up to try to earn a little money,” he said. “That was the day I said, ‘Dad, you don’t have to do this anymore.’” Having already reached Presidential and with his father now retired, Diego looks forward to buying his parents a new house later this year.* “There’s no better feeling than to make a difference in the lives of people you care about,” he says. “That’s the best reward.”
