It took eight weeks for Vemma Diamond Brand Partner Ryan Kanowski to make the decision to sign up with Vemma, but only 14 weeks for him to get Platinum Club car qualified and rank advance to Diamond.* “It’s cool how it happens — how with a great team we can accomplish so much,” says Ryan, a well-known DJ from Buffalo, New York. “I’ve done a lot of awesome things — hosted shows with audiences of 400,000 and opened for some big bands — and Vemma is the most exciting thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t think I’d even hit Bronze this fast!* In just over three months, our Vemma team in Buffalo has grown from just a few kids to almost 400 people.”*
Becoming business-minded
“Before I was in Vemma, I’d kind of settled,” Ryan says. His job paid well, and he enjoyed his work, but working weekends left him with a lot of free time during the week. “You get in Vemma and get around people who are goal driven, who are hugely successful, and you see another world. You realize the possibilities. You see that wealthy people aren’t the ones working 9-to-5 jobs. They’re the ones who own a business. I do the Vemma business during the week, when I used to be hanging out at coffee shops all day or watching movies. People my age (in their 20s) who have a job, who are self-sufficient — we just need to try something new!”
A “people first” business
As a Vemma Brand Partner, Ryan appreciates the way this business is a people business. “For me, it’s not about money. I’ve always been someone who likes to help people out and I volunteer for a lot of charities. Vemma is an opportunity to help people out and do the right thing.” Through Vemma, he’s been able to help friends who are struggling find a purpose and overcome all kinds of adversity. “I like that in Vemma, you’re not told you’re not good enough. That’s common in today’s workforce. I don’t feel expendable anymore. It’s a powerful feeling.”
As part of Ruth Elliott’s team, Ryan has met some amazingly successful people and he’s noticed something they have in common: they write down their goals. “My next goal is to go out there and throw cool Verve parties for college kids. On my radio show, I can’t even mention Vemma (I tried and almost got fired!), so it would be great to someday join my DJ side and my Vemma business on my own terms.”

Success Tips from Ryan:
- Say less to more people.
- This business isn’t about showing the haters you’re right. It’s about being the one who took a step in the opposite direction, did well, and then re-invited the haters later on.
- Make zero room for any kind of negativity.
- Learn the difference between a boss and a leader. You’ll succeed by helping build powerful leaders.
- Write down your goals and learn from successful people.
